A downloadable game

A game jam entry I made with about 2-3 weeks worth of work. It's inspired by one of my favorite series of games, Zettai Zetsumei Toshi or Disaster Report/ Raw Danger/ SOS: The Final Escape elsewhere. It's about 10-15 minutes long, and shouldn't be that difficult. Custom pixel art by me and character portraits done by cloudxx09 (https://twitter.com/cloudxx09).

STORY:
You are visiting a foreign country for the first time when a strong earthquake occurs, your only way to safety is over a damaged bridge.

Controls:
- Arrow Keys to move
- Z button accept/interact
- X button menu
- Shift to dash
- F4 full screen
- F5 reset

Hoping to get some feedback on the quick time events, it's hard to gauge their difficulty as the dev and any suggestions or comments are very welcome. Also welcoming feedback on the screen shaking in the game. I know there's black areas that appear when the screen shakes, still trying to find a way to get rid of those black areas.

I'm late to the party, but I played the game and I enjoyed the idea! I am frightened by earthquakes, so them being the focus of the game in total silence and utter solitude is exactly what gets me. The game is pretty straightforward and I liked the aesthetics. If I may suggest something, being able to interact more with the objects (I smashed the MC against any car to inspect them) and the eartquakes being more risky, but overall it's a nice experience!

PS: about the QTE, I like the idea but having only a button too press might be easy. It just took to have a finger constantly on the Z button to never be caught by surprise; as for the screens, I saw a black edge only in the final earthquake of the game, but it didn't bother me honestly (to get rid of them I would suggest a screen image overlay with something that might be like canvas for the image, for example smoke, so the black areas would be covered by smoke for example)

Adding more stuff you can interact with is a good idea. Earthquake difficulty is something i struggled with, I'm always afraid of making something too hard, and instead make things way too easy.

QTE feedback is very welcome, I saw one person play it on twitch and you and them said the same thing. I should switch it up with other letters or add more combinations of letters.

About the black edges, it's been awhile, but i remember trying a few things  to try and fix it, but couldn't and had to move on. I'll try out your suggestion out. The smoke or dust idea is a great idea, and i like it the most.

Thanks for playing through my game, and thanks for the feedback. Not too proud of this game, but it was fun to make all this stuff, and I liked the water effects I came up with. Learned a lot about earthquakes as well lol.

BTW, any thing i can do to help with your game? That new map looks really good. rpgmaker.net is doing a solo game jam as well that looks interesting. Link below

Why not proud? I think it would be really good if you expand upon it :)
As for the QTE the combo might be arrows, I saw in other games that in the QTE they show images that indicate Up - Down - Left - Right as a solution: if you don't hit them in time you can get the character hit by something during the quake maybe? I'm glad the idea about the smoke is useful! I'll wait for the next update then x3

PS: thank you ;\\\\; if I may ask, I would need someone to test the game when I finish it, so this time I wouldn't publish it with embarassing bugs. May I ask you, please? >\\\<
(It's still long before I finish, but...)

The arrows is a good idea, i'm going to try that next time i feel like updating the game.

yeah, i'll be more than happy to test it. Just let me know and i'll be ready. I don't mind testing the full game when you are finished or even if you have just parts you need tested.

btw your new sprites are looking really good! I'm doing that game jam i linked above, do you have any good recommendations on sprites templates/bases?

Thank you >\\\< when it's playable again I'll send it to you!
As for the sprites, I like these two bases:

They're the same I use, but on deviantart there's some more styles too. I'll be waiting for your game in the jam >w<
